Cliff Salaun
Cliff came to Australia in 1967 from Mauritius an island east of
Africa and has been making drums drums
since 1996 developing and perfecting
tools and techniques in drum making. Cliff received an Australian Council
Grant for the development of Musical Instruments, which took Cliff and
Kerrie to Ghana, West Africa. Cliff enjoys taking the mystery out of drum
making which has made him popular with drummers and drum makers alike. |
Kerrie Salaun
Kerrie has studied Fine Arts at College and uses this knowledge to
apply designs to drums and other percussion instruments. The trip to
Africa has influenced her art.
Kerrie is visually impaired and found an affinity with the people of
West Africa, many of whom suffer from eye problems caused by exposure to
the sun and dust which if left untreated can cause blindness.
