THE BEGINNINGS OF CINEMA

Sit back and relax in air conditioned comfort and take a fascinating journey through time and experience the beginnings of Cinema with your host Mr Stuart Everett.

Using early examples of projectors, films, slides and equipment from his extensive collection Stuart presents a 90 minute live show. The show begins in the Pre Cinema era and progresses thru to the birth of the motion picture industry with demonstrations of the equipment used in these periods.

"Fairymount flicks and Cinema Museum" is a museum full of vintage cinema equipment but this is not the only reason you should visit us. Our fully narrated, live 90 minute show title "the beginning of cinema" will take you on a fascinating journey back through time into the days before moving pictures up to the birth of world cinema.

PRE CINEMA

Stuart talks about Live plays and the advent of the Fantascope, Zeotrope and the Stereoscope.

The development of Lens and suitable light sources Lime light, Gas and Arc light.

Our historic museum can seat 56 people in air conditioned comfort and is part of our "Kyogle Cinemas" three screen complex.

MAGIC LANTERN ERA 1874-1912

This fascinating Pre Movie Era is talked about with full demonstrations of Lanterns of the era featuring slides from the Boar War, Slipslides, Mechanical Slides, Amusement Slides and Educational Slides.

With the establishment of kyogle cinemas and incorporating "fairymount flicks cinema museum" Stuart has been able to fulfill his dreams and has set up one of the most extensive displays of working vintage cinema equipment in the country.

THE BIRTH OF WORLD CINEMA

Stuart discusses Edison, The Lumiere Bros and Laurie Dickson with demonstrations of early Edison Film Clips.

The "Birth of Australian Cinema" was in the 1800's with the first showing of a commercial movie clip in Australia by Magician Carl Hertz using a Theatrograph at the Tivoli in Burke Street, Melbourne on the 22nd August 1896.
