Chris Barnes began his football career with the Kyogle Junior League at the age of seven. He has played representative Group One football from the age of 13. During 1999 Chris toured France with a NCAS under 17's side, represented Northern Rivers Division in the NSW Country Championships and received the coaches award and the rookie award of the year.

Chris has spent this year completing his HSC at Kyogle High and is hoping to study human movement at university in 2001.

Chris will play the 2001 season with the Canberra Raiders Jersey Flegg side and hopefully get a run with first division. Chris will continue his studies in Canberra after receiving his UAI.


Some of Chris's Outstanding achievements are:-

1999
Member of the Gold Coast Charges Development Squad.
Scholarship with the North Coast Academy of Sport. Toured France with Academy U/17's squad. Awarded Man of the match first tour game.
Received an outstanding performance award at the North Coast Academy of Sport presentation night.
Northern Rivers Representative at the NSW country championships.
Selected to play at the combined high schools state trials.
Kyogle U/18's Rookie of the year and Coaches awards.

2000
Captain of the Kyogle U/18's. With regular A Grade experience.
Recipient of the best and fairest award - U/18's. 
Recognised as most consistent Senior player - Clubs overall award.
Again invited to play at the Combined High School State Trials.
Missed final selection trial through injury.
Played centre for the Northern Rivers side which won the NSW Country Championships.

Chris says that now that he has completed his HSC he would like to pursue a career as a professional Rugby League Player without losing site of his long term goal to work in the field of human movement and sports management.

His personal commitment to rugby league involves two sessions each week of club training, sprint training at Lismore and gym work.

Chris is interested in most sports, occasionally playing golf and enjoys relaxing with his music collection.
