This month we recognize the achievements of ROSS KNOX. Ross traveled
overseas with the Australian Over-40 touch football team. The team
returned triumphant after an unbeaten run at the European championships.
The team was coached by Harry Appo, of Darwin, and also included ROSS
KNOX.
Ross is a former Kyogle Turkeys Rugby League Player. When Ross arrived in the Northern Rivers area he was keen to get
back into playing football. David Grant was coach of Kyogle at the time
and asked Ross to join the club where he played 1st Grade for a
number of years.
In the championships played at Edinburgh in Scotland, They beat England
6-0, Scotland 4-1, Wales 7-2, and, in the final, again beat England 6-0.
Team Captain Behnke praised Ross for his onfield performances.
Ross said to qualify for the Australian Team you have to play Rep Touch
at the national titles which is held in Coffs Harbour (March in Each year). Ross's team is called the Northern Eagles and they won the national
titles 3 years in a row.
Ross arrived home in Australia on Friday 4th August, after a 26 hour
flight from London, extremely sore, tired and suffering from what
experienced travelers call Jet Lag - Ross says he has never had a hangover
as bad as that.
Ross would like to thank the Kyogle Touch Association for all
their support over this time and especially Ray Farrell for all his help.
