The Kyogle Newspaper or TKN
certainly started very humbly as a four page giveaway promoting the
virtues of the Northend of Kyogle businesses, as “The Northend News”.
David and Valerie Lake had arrived in Kyogle nearly twenty three years
ago and David saw a place for a small positive newsletter format focussing
entirely on Kyogle.
The following month after receiving a flood of potential
advertising requests and stories, saw “The Kyogle Newspaper”, or TKN
as we now know it, appear on the streets of Kyogle.
David
would type the stories on his trusty “typewriter” and “hand draw”
the adverts, which paid for the production.
As time went on the paper became TKN and introduced many new
businesses and photographed people in and around Kyogle and District.
Recently Tom Rogers and Danny Hampton took over TKN as it looked as
though it would fold, and took on the job of continuing the original
concept of producing a “Newsy” – “Community” – “Business”
– “Coffee Table
Newspaper”, that reflected life in a small country community, for Kyogle
and District. The “District” commitment was news from “Over The
Range” from Geoff Bateman, “Woodenbong News” with Mrs Marsh,
and "Wiangaree News" with Fay Fardon plus
news from everywhere in between.
As TKN naturally progresses to the Internet, we welcome you from
wherever you may hail and trust you enjoy “TKN – the Original
“little” paper” as we continue on with the original concept of “A
Good Read”.
Kind Regards, Tom Rogers and Danny Hampton.
