INTRODUCTION

We have at present two music schools providing one-on-one music tuition to the people of Kyogle and Casino. Our Kyogle Music School operates from above Tom's Music Shop in Summerland Way and our Casino Music School is in Barker Street.

Our Kyogle Music School began in 1999, after Tom Rogers had already been conducting music tuition for a number of years. Now Gerry Rijs operates the day to day running of the school together with Tom. Both are committed to providing music students with the opportunity to receive expert musical training from local musicians experienced in both playing and teaching. The service has now been extended to Casino.

All our tutors actively encourage students to play the music they like and to develop skills relating to playing a musical instrument, including improvisation, group playing and performance.

All classes are conducted in a clean, safe and pleasant environment.

Each lesson lasts half an hour, with students receiving individual tuition.

Students are encouraged to be musically minded, to be creative, to respect their instrument and to spend regular time playing.

It goes without saying that we all want the best for our children. Although aptitude varies amongst individuals, all children have the ability to achieve musically and will be greatly influenced by the timing and quality of the early experiences.

Scientists and educators are realising more and more that early, positive musical experiences can help them develop physical co-ordination and timing, memory and concentration skills as well as increased visual, aural, communication and language skills.

To have a music school such as ours in a small country town is a boon to our community and a credit to all who have supported its ongoing presence.
