The
Dam:
Construction on Toonumbar Dam started in April of 1969 and was an
initiative of the NSW
Department of Land and Water Conservation taking 2 years to
build and was completed in June 1971.
The dam provides an annual
regulated flow of 13,000 megalitres of water.
This together with the
uncontrolled flow of Eden Creek and other creeks, provides
sufficient water to irrigate about 2800 hectares of irrigable land.
A Mini Hydro Plant has now been
installed to provide green energy to the local
power grid (Northpower)
Three full time
staff are employed maintaining the dam and several surrounding
weirs.
